IC INFORMATION;
Characters Name: Tobio Kageyama
Age: 16
Canon: Haikyuu!!
Canon Point: Ep. 25
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Tobio does not have a known preference, exhibiting no physical or romantic attraction through the course of the anime.

History: [wiki]
Appearance: [x] Tobio is tall and muscular for his age at 5'11" and 146 lbs. He has short, neatly-kept black hair and dark blue eyes. His facial expression always looks mildly unpleasant like he's sniffed a particularly bad fart.
Personality: King of the Court - that's what they all call him. He's a powerful presence on and off the court, a genius player with incredible, raw potential. The prodigy who'd have such a bright career… that is, if he wasn't such a terrible, awful person to have as a teammate. He's not King of the Court for his skills but for his attitude, the way he commands and alienates and rules with an unforgiving fist. His teammates often feel like peasants under his command. Because of his oppressive nature on the court, Tobio's teammates eventually abandon him.

And this is precisely why he hates being called a 'king.' It's a constant reminder of his failures: as a teammate, as a volleyball player, rejected from top volleyball schools, the hollow echo of a ball hitting an empty court, the slow realization that no one trusts him.

Tobio is an angry, irritable, controlling asshole by nature. He is quick to snap and quick to criticize others for failing to keep up with him. He cares very little of others' feelings, being so driven and focused on victory and winning. He's known to abandon anyone who is not essential to winning.

That is- until he attends Karasuno High School and becomes teammates with Hinata Shoyou. Despite their rocky, antagonistic beginning where they couldn't get along and were only forced to cooperate (and barely cooperated even then), through Shoyou and his other teammates, Tobio has grown into almost a completely different person. While at his heart, Tobio is still irritable, cranky, prideful, and goal-driven, he has, more or less, accepted the magic of friendship into his bitter, lonely heart.

After working with Shoyou and joining the team, Tobio changed drastically and very, very quickly. He learned humility and tries his best to be a good teammate not only out of fear of experiencing betrayal once again but out of a genuine desire to help the team succeed. He sheds all bitterness toward his old team. Where his old teammates expect Tobio to flog his teammates for making mistakes, Tobio's grown to forgive and forget. He realizes that people make mistakes, and just making a mistake does not make a teammate disposable or useless. He realizes that he can make mistakes and that it isn't just the fault of another for failing to hit his serves or ruining a play.

Tobio hasn't changed completely - he's still prone to anger and isn't exactly the best at being motivating or sensitive to others - but he's certainly grown and built on top of the person he used to be. He actively makes an effort to be more personable, even going as far as mimicking his kinder, gentler senpai in order to achieve it (despite being completely awful at it). But it proves just how dedicated Kageyama is - both to volleyball and to becoming a better person - that he can so easily shed his pride in order to reach his goals.

What Tobio has learned is trust. He trusts Shoyou to always be there to hit his tosses, trusts his other teammates to have his back when he needs them. He's supported by teammates who may not be the best but are trying. He does what he can, too, to support their strengths and bring out their full potential. Because while Tobio comes off serious, he actually has fun playing volleyball. He isn't the kind of athlete who just thrives on winning or pulling off flawless plays and strategies. Tobio wants to stay on the court for as long as he can purely for the joy of playing volleyball. At his heart, Tobio is just a kid who has fun. He's just one who has trouble expressing himself and releases it all in pent-up frustration. But he's learning, very quickly, how to step back and learn rather than barreling forward blindly.
Abilities: Tobio is considered a genius on the court. He has pinpoint accuracy in directing the ball, can strategize on the fly, read his opponents' moves, and perform all positions on the court proficiently. He's fast, strong, and intelligent - unless it comes to academics, don't even look at him.

SAMPLES;
First Person: Supplement thread

[The video shows a rather sour-looking boy, but one who looks like he's trying to look friendly and polite. He bows to the camera, his hand still awkwardly stretched as he holds his cell phone.]

Please, I don't know how I got here, but I'd like to return to Karasuno High School! If anyone can show me the way, I'd be very grateful!

[He straightens and looks to the side, a little uncertain.]

I- don't recognize anyone on my contact list even though this is my phone. I don't understand the papers, either, even though they're address to me.

But I have people depending on me. So please guide me!

Third Person: The first thing Tobio sees is something that seems to come straight out of an American movie. It doesn't connect, at first, that it's a place he's actually in because the construction of the buildings and the yards and the neighborhood are just so unfamiliar that he doesn't even think it could be reality. But it's when he stands and looks around that he realizes, oh, this is real and he is so very, very lost.

Concerned, he reaches for- keys? Keys that are also definitely not his but supposedly connected to the house behind him. He's skeptical, a bit nervous, and beyond confused, but he approaches the door cautiously. There's really no other option but to find someone to direct him back, and this is the only course of action available to him now.

He's starting to wonder if he ended up here completely by accident or not when he sees the envelope on the door with his name. Opening it reveals his cell phone which he immediately pockets in order to investigate the papers. Papers that he subsequently finds he absolutely doesn't understand. He thumbs through the jargon, wondering how any of this has anything to do with him.

He decides it has nothing to do with him whatsoever and tosses them back into the envelope. Useless.

About ten seconds away from a complete tantrum, Tobio looks through his phone. He doesn't have many contacts, but recently he's been able to get his fellow teammates' numbers--

Which, conveniently, are not in his phone and are instead replaced by names he doesn't recognize.

With a deep breath, he turns to the door.

And kicks it with a frustrated shout.
